EMPLOYER
Our client is an award winning international engineering consultancy,
currently undergoing rapid growth.
The successful applicant will be working as an integral member of the
Environmental Team, based in Cork, delivering the highest standards of
technical work and aiding the continued expansion of the Environmental
business
JOB DESCRIPTION
The work will be diverse and will involve undertaking Appropriate
Assessments, Natura Impact Statements, and Ecological Assessments as
well as providing Ecological input and recommendations into a wide
range of major infrastructural and commercial developments, and the
preparation of Biodiversity Assessments for inclusion in Statutory EIA
Reports
The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding of all
regulatory and statutory requirements pertaining to ecology /
biodiversity in Ireland
They will also be required to provide support as required on key
projects, and in the preparation of proposal and tender documents
Undertake technical evaluation / Appropriate Assessments required on
major infrastructural / commercial developments
Provide support to Senior members of the Environmental Team
Provide expert ecological technical assistance to the Business
Provide advice on compliance with national ecological legislation and
policy and any corrective action undertaken complies with
environmental legislation and policy;
Engage with external stakeholders as necessary
Perform other such duties in relation to general Environmental
Consultancy.
REQUIREMENTS
Third level qualification in ecology or a related biological
science;(Minimum Level 8)
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
Strong botanical and habitat mapping skillset is preferred, though
specialist experience of birds or bats / terrestrial mammals will also
be considered
Experience undertaking invasive species surveys
Experience of preparing ecological assessments and appropriate
assessments of projects
Detailed knowledge of relevant environmental/ecological legislation,
at both European and national level, in particular the Habitats
Directive
GIS experience (preferably with MapInfo / ArcGIS / QGIS)
Project management experience
Experience of engaging with external stakeholders
Detailed understanding of terrestrial ecosystems is essential
Full clean driving licence
